CHARLES McKEE 'Chuck' EATLEY:

Born 19 January 1918 at Staten Island, New York. The son of Charles Sickles EATLEY a painter born New York 1893 and Grace McKEE, born New Jersey, 1897, the daughter of Charles and Meryl MCKEE.

At the age of 2 years 11 months Charles is recorded in the US National Census 1920 with his parents living at 42 Broadway, Jersey City, New Jersey.

United States Federal Census of 1930, shows 12 year old Charles living with his now widowed mother at her parent's address in Jersey City.

Grace later married Joseph VENTO. Grace and Joseph are buried at Staten Island.

Charles M. who had no siblings became a career soldier.

He enlisted in the US Army on 19th August 1941 at Fort Hamilton, Brooklyn, New York. Three months before Pearl Harbour.

His initial enlistment, Private 1st Class 06909917,was for three years.

He continued in the service of his country for 30years through World War II, Korea, and as a Sergeant Major in Vietnam.

Charles married Margaret Leona Conrad, born 15 July 1918 the daughter of Capt. Hiram O. CONRAD of Nova Scotia and Massachusetts.

Charles's death is recorded in the US Social Security Index as 31 August 1989 New York.
Last address Fairfax Viginia. Social Security No. 062-05-0082.

His three sons and their families live in the United States.

Charles married Grace E. McKEE the daughter of Charles and Cheryl McKEE in Richmond (Staten Island) Borough 2Oth July 1916.[Certificate No. 335]

[On his World War 1 registration card Charle's occupation is given as Grinder, for SS White Dental Manufacturers.]

Charles' and Grace's only child, Charles McKee EATLEY was born on Staten Island 19 January 1918.

Charles S, Grace and 3yr old Charles jnr are recorded in the US National Census 1920 living at 42 Broadway, Jersey City, New Jersey. Charles's occupation at that time is shown as 'painter'.

Charles Sickles EATLEY died aged 34 in Richmond on 24th August 1926 [Certificate 1576].

The United States Federal Census of 1930, shows the now widowed Grace and 12yr old Charles McKee at her parent's address in Jersey City.

Grace later married Joseph VENTO. Grace and Joseph are buried at Staten Island.

SAMUEL EATLY  [     - 1864] text

Samuel Eatly, Private,  F Company 15th Regiment Ohio Volunteer Infantry died in hospital  29th June 1864 of wounds received at the battle of Kenesaw Mountain, Georgia,  and was buried in Nashville..
